My idle was set at 976 rpm. Factory manual says 950-1050rpm. I bumped it up to 1008 and still had some coughing and spitting and then it would stall. Only the bearings, spacers, and axles changed. An example of this is the 06-07 Wide Glides which have 1" axles, and the 08 has a 25mm axle, but all three years use the same part number fork sliders.

At idle, it looks like the motor is going to jump out of the frame the way it shakes on those rubber mounts. But at 60-80, you get a nice massage versus a high frequency buzz. That is where those rubber mounts are tuned to work their majic.
